We are working on refreshing and further differentiating our math block by developing and organizing a collection of online games and independent math centers. Our plan is to be able to have 4 groups during our math block. The groups will be set up as follows:
- Teacher directed
- Everyday Math Game
- Independent Math activity**
- Online games**
As part of this process, we will be organizing our math games into groups that students can choose from. We want them to be independent and have academic choice while being sure that they are making choices that are at the correct level for their individual needs.
Tools:
Diigo for storing/curating/sharing resources.
Feedly, Twitter, Pinterest for gathering ideas.
Yarmouth Educational Resources for pulling specific games that are appropriate for Kindergarten.
Karen, I look forward to supporting this plan. I love the idea of Kindergarten students accessing some technology in your classrooms.
ReplyDeleteCool, Karen. One of the things I love about this course is that I get to see what is happening across the grades. It puts my place in the middle in perspective. By the time we get the kids you have next year they will be that much farther along the road than the kids we have now. Wild. Hopefully so will I!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fantastic idea Karen! Great that kids can access these cool tech "learning" sites at school and at home. Parents will LOVE this!
